Home Economics

For the past 2 weeks we had to research a country and had to pick one of the dishes they are well known for. Kaycee and I had France to research about and we chose the dish, 'Crepes'. Crepes is a well known recipe that most people around the world can make; it is very easy and doesn't take that long. On Wednesday 25 we had our practical assessment where Kaycee had left me to help out other groups because my teacher believed I could do it by myself. We chose this recipe because it seemed very easy and a lot of people know what crepes they have either seen or eaten crepes. In my opinion I reckon our presentation was outstanding. I like how it was very colourful and he had different fresh fruit.

The thing that most helped us was our teacher supplied us with a small non-stick pan.... It was awesome! Our Recipe was called "CREPES WITH FRESH FRUIT. I would probably make it more sweeter cause it was a bit plain and I have also learnt how to turn on the stove top.

Our ingredients we used were

- 1/2 cup flour

- 1 large egg

-1/2 tbsp sugar

-1/4 tsp salt

1 cup of whole milk

-1/2 tbsp Butter

- Fresh Fruit for serving

-Icing sugar, for serving

- SERVES: 2

Our method was very easy and simple;

1. In a mixing bowl whisk the flour, sugar and salt until combined. Then create a well with flour and add the egg.

2. Gradually pour in milk, whisking to combine after each addition. Let batter stand at room temperature until slightly bubbly on top, 10 - 15 minutes

3. In a small frying an over a medium heat, melt butter. About 1/8 cupt at a time, drop batter evenly onto pan, swirling it to evenly coat.

4. Cook for 2 minutes, then flip and cook 1 minute more. Repeat with remaining batter.

5. Serve crepes warm with fresh fruit and Icing sugar.

There were some changes around our servings. We had whipped cream with Greek yogurt and we had a scoop of vanilla ice-cream for serving to the teachers. Our time schedule was pretty accurate but we went 2 -3 minutes over the bell.

10 minutes to Prepare

10 minutes for it to rest batter

- Prepare Fresh Fruit

10 minutes to cook

10 minutes to clean

Once we finished cooking we made an extra one for the teachers that were in the learning street (The Science Teachers) so we could get there feedback.

We had about 5 teachers test our dish although we only had 3 teachers feedback.

TEACHERS FEEDBACK:

It was brilliant they really liked our different varieties of fruit and how it was the right amount of fruit to balance the sweet and sour. They really like how we had whipped cream on top of fresh yogurt. "It was delicious"
