Orana WildLife Park

Orana WildLife Park Adventure          14/08/2017
In the morning we sat down as our teacher Whaea Jo calls out the groups and as she calls out 2w, I hear Jaleel’s name called out saying that she was with me.

It was a bumpy and long ride to Orana Park. I was sitting next to Chantae and Lily-Ray continuing on with our game “Last Card”. It was about a 25 minute drive. By the time we got there we saw that most classes were lining up in their group.

Then we started walking over near the cafe to have a bit of lunch.
After that we started walking over to our first animal which was a baby Cheetah. After the cheetah’s we went near the apes some were inside and outside. The ape inside was kinda showing off well putting on a show for everyone. After the Apes we went and seen and feed the Giraffes which were so tall and we didn’t get to feed the giraffe’s but the group after us got the chance. Then got to see some Rhinos the best part was that we got to see a Rhino's horn which they had to cut off because their horn was growing downwards so that means they couldn't eat.

Also a wee bit of some Lions but we had to be quiet because they were all asleep

After all of that we went all the way down to the East to have a wee bit more lunch.

KIWI”S
Then it was that best part getting to see some kiwi’s it was really dark and cold in the place that they were kept. As soon as I went into the room I spotted one straight away. I learnt that female Kiwi’s can lay up to 100 eggs in their lifetime and that female kiwi’s are way bigger than male’s.
After that we went to see Tasmanian Devil which everyone thinks their cute my opinion they are creepy.

Cheetah’s, Ape’s, Giraffe’s, Rhino’s, Lion’s, Kiwi’s, Tasmanian Devils and a lot more

Blog Commenting

We are learning how to interact online in a kind, positive and helpful way

Being positive means writing something great about their work not negative
Asking a question about their time or when did you go. So something about their time not how old He/She is
Making a connection is kinda like asking  a question. Like how was it or giving information
Being careful of humour means making sure that your comment your write is helpful or your comment should motivate them to put more into it

Re-Read your comment - Making sure your have CAPITAL LETTERS and full stops and it should make sense

My Audience

We are learning to create a positive digital footprint.

We often share personal information when we are online. The people we share with could be our friends and family or people we don't know. We need to make smart decisions about what personal information we share online.

Our Experiment / Hot & Cold

For the past 2 weeks my friend Paige and I did a experiment. We called it Hot & Cold because it was to do with hot water and cold water. Things we need for the experiment

1. Blue and Red dye
2. 2 Jars
3. Skewer
4. Scissors
5. Dish
6. A Plastic card

First you fill up the jars, one hot and one cold. You put three drops of blue food colouring in the cold water, and then you put three drops of rose pink/red food colouring in the hot water by using the skewer. After that you put one on/in the dish and then the one that’s going on top, put the plastic card on it and quickly flip it over (water shouldn’t come out if you’ve done it right). When you’ve done that, put it on top of the other jar, and slowly slide the plastic card out. And you’re done!

So the first time you do it you have to put the cold water on top of the hot water. The we have to change it around so the hot water is on top of the cold water.

When the hot water is on top of the cold water it doesn’t mix. We think that it’s because the steam from the hot water is acting like a barrier so it doesn’t go through.

But when the cold water is on top of the hot water it mixes because there isn’t any steam barrier to stop it.

Our experiment involves Air Resistance because the steam is air. Also Geothermal energy because of the hot water and Balanced Forces because the hot and cold water are leveled. The Atua would be Ruaumoko.
