Acid Rain

Acid Rain

How it forms-
When fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas are burned, oxides of carbon, sulphur and nitrogen escape into the air. These molecules dissolve in the water in the clouds and make rain water more acidic than normal. When this happens, "Its called acid rain".

Experiment-
universal indicator - makes things change colour. ( yellow to red)
Bromothynol blue - changes colour. (blue to green/yellow)
flower -  went hard
calcium carbonate - went crusty.
apple - went hard.
we set up all our thing in a petre dish and set up a little way boat in the middle and we put the lid on and waited to see what the acids could do to the ingredients, they changed colour.
