Oesophagus

 What is it used for?

The oesophagus is a tube that connects the throat and the stomach.

Where do you find it?

Throat

How does it work?

As a person swallows, food moves from the mouth to the throat

Weird Examples - A Giraffe has a very long oesophagus

Small Intestine 

What is it used for? For all your food to come to form into a poo. 
Where do you find it? The bottom of your stomach. 
How does it work? The small intestine, or small bowel, is a hollow tube about 20 feet long that runs from the stomach to the beginning of the large intestine. The small intestine breaks down food from the stomach and absorbs much of the nutrients from the food.

What is it used for? The major function of the large intestine is to absorb water from the remaining indigestible food matter and transmit the useless waste material from the body.
Where do you find it? Around the small intestine .
How does it work? Its job is to absorb most of the nutrients from what we eat and drink. Velvety tissue lines the small intestine, which is divided into the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. The large intestine (colon or large bowel) is about 5 feet long and about 3 inches in diameter.

Liver

What is it used for? The liver's main job is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract, before passing it to the rest of the body.

Where do you find it? Above your stomach and inside of you.

Stomach

What is it used for? It helps digest nicely 

Where do you find it? Its attached to the oesophagus (Bottom) 

How does it work? It digest food or stores it 

Hunt For The Wilder People (HFTWP)

In English we are learning about three different film techniques using the film Hunt For The Wilder People directed by Taika Waititi. The three film techniques that i'm looking for in the relationship between Kahu and Ricky is Dialogue, Acting/Facials and Music. I really like the contrast between Kahu and Ricky because dialogue, acting and music is used energetically throughout the scene.

Seel Paragraph

Human rights include civil and political rights such as the right to life and liberty, freedom of expression, equality before the law and the right to be free from discrimination.

This means they have a right which is believed to belong to every person.

For example  Harassment – inappropriate jokes, insults, name-calling is not a good way for freedom and expression.

By not being allowed to do all those things, people are still allowed to be protected by the law/rights.

Art Work

Question 1 = What are concepts what are developments? Why is this important for developing art work?

Answer 1 = Development is putting more design and style into your work. Concepts are an abstract idea so a plan/drafts.

Developments is important because is good to improve your work by doing all concepts. So improving your work to be the best standard.

Question 2 = How have you used the colour theory in your work?

Answer 2 = I have used colour theory in my work by choosing out warm and cold colours

Question 3 = Describe the process of you painting

Answer 3 = We first had to plan our warm and cold colours then we had to do our undercoat and then we started to paint then we started to put texture and style to my work by doing a total range of light red to dark red

Cup Cakes

Last week on Monday My group, Aroha, Madi and I got to ice our cupcakes. Our Method to make our cupcakes were very easy also our icing method.

Cupcake Method:

1. Line 12 Cupcake tin with cases
2. Beat 2 eggs together in a bowl
3. In another bowl cream butter and caster sugar
4. Add eggs to creamed mixture and beat to mix
5. Fold in sifted flour and milk
6. Place mixture in cupcakes tin
7. Bake at 180 c for approximately for 15 minutes  

Icing method:

1. 1 cup of icing sugar
2. 25g butter
3. Vanilla Essence
4. Add your colour
5. Mix all together  
6. WAALAA Masterpiece

Scones

Scones A few weeks back My Group and I made Scones with cheese On the first lesson my whole group were at a stars mentors day trip out so we made cheese scones and not normal scones

Method :

1. Sift flour , baking powder , and salt into a bowl
2. Cut butter in until it resembles fine breadcrumbs 4
3. Add milk and mix quickly with a knife to a soft dough
4. Knead a few times
5. Place baking paper on a tray **
6. Press scone dough onto this. Cut into 12 pieces

Brush with milk

7. Bake at 180 c for 10 minutes
8. Add ¾ cup grated cheese , pinch of cayenne pepper to flour before baking top with a little cheese

Investigating State Changes

Aim: To observe water as it changes state from solid to liquid and then to a gas

Method:
1. collect enough ice so that your beaker is half full and place the thermometer into it while you set up the
 rest of the equipment.

2. Set up the retort stand and clamp alongside the tripod and gauze mat.

3. place the beaker of ice on the gauze mat and gently clamp the thermometer so that it is held upright
 and the scale is easy to see. 
The bottom of your thermometer should be low enough to still be covered by water when the ice melts,
 but not touching the bottom of the beaker.

4. record the initial thermometer of the ice in the data table below.

5. Light the Bunsen burner and start timing with the stopwatch.

6. measure and record the thermometer every minute.

7.continue measuring and recording the thermometer until the water has been boiling for 2-3 minutes.

Making a dilution series

Aim: To make a dilution series to investigate the concentration

Equipment: A potassium permanganate crystal, six large test tubes, tweezers, a plastic transfer pipette, a test tube rack, 10ml measuring cylinder

Method:

1. Place the six test tubes in a test rack. Label the rack with numbers 1-6

2.  Using the measuring cylinder, fill the test tube 1 with 10 ml of water. Fill the remaining test tubes with 5ml of water

3. Using your tweezers, add a single crystal of potassium permanganate to test tube 1

4. Gently shake the test tube until the crystal has dissolved

5. Using the transfer pipette, carefully remove exactly 5ml from the test tube 1 and pour in into test tube 2

6. Rinse the transfer pipette again and repeat the transfer process for test tube 4, 5 and 6

 Discussion:  We put a tiny bit of solute into solvent to make a solution and to make a dilution series.
